Jim was bought as a birthday present for Jon in 1990. At that time he was totally wild, if you went within 10 feet
of his cage he clung to the back and screamed. (anyone who has a parrot knows how well they can scream!) But, if you
looked beyond that, he had a very inquisitive mind, his eyes wandered continually, watching, following, inspecting, and
he listened intently to everthing around him, in short he was totally attentive. So we bought him, took him home and
set about taming him, this little 12 inch feathered thing that wouldn't let you anywhere near him without attacking you
or screaming at you.
Anyone who has tried to tame a wild parrot knows, this is not an easy task. It needs hours and hours of patience and a
definite stubborn streak, to not be beaten, by this flaming little bird, with a bite big enough to crack shells or nuts. But,
being stubborn, and determined to win, we set about the task in hand and won.
This was just a few months down the line and he was tame enough to join us in the garden
Our feathered friend is now a stupid, playful, soppy, sweet, angry, quiet, idiotic parrot who cannot wait to play with
you, cuddle you, whistle to you, throw things at you, nip you or even wage war at you, depending on what mood he is in
at the time. as we step through the door at the end of the day, one word from him and we know what mood he is in. His
voice betrays him wonderfully, and, if you're wondering, he only has 2 swear words to date and he says both of them in
Jon's voice!!
Another picture shows how in stupid mood he wrecked a pot of flowers while being sprayed with the garden hose.
